Process of making my contents page

Draft 1

I am quite unsure about using this photo as I am not sure if it suits the genre or not and may be too different to the front cover style but I am going to start making my contents and see how it looks.
Draft 2

Draft 3
I have added writing to the page, making sure that I stick to the same fonts and colours used on the front cover to show continuity.
Draft 4
By changing the the "contents" font it shows that I have properly thought about the type of text which I will be using. I changed the font as I realised that the main text should continue the with the house style off the front cover.

Draft 5
After much deliberation I decided that this picture did not represent the correct vibe for this magazine, therefore I changed the image to a more suitable one. I feel that this is image is more suitable due to the more relaxed, natural and fun pose.

Draft 6
By separating the text on the contents page into two sections; Features and Regulars, it gives a much more professional effect, and also makes it easier for the reader.

Draft 7
I have taken the colours off the model/artist flowered necklace and applied them onto the different headings on the contents page in order to make the page look more attractive and give the girl a purpose of being there. I also have added the background off the front page onto the contents page to show continuity.

FINAL CONTENTS
This is my final contents page cover, I have given the picture a reason to be on the page by linking it to the "your snaps" page, which is a competition where the audience send in pictures they have taken of the celebrates and one is then chosen as the winner. By putting the artist name "Aby Crooks" this shows a good relationship between the magazine and the artist as it is emphasising her name and therefore pomoting her.
I feel this contents page stays consistent to the house style.

Process of making my front cover

I will be constantly uploading drafts onto my blog to show the stages which my front cover has gone through, also to indicate any changes I have made and why.

Draft 1

This was the starting point my front cover, I chose to use this picture because the headphones relate to music and the model creates the right mood for the magazine.

Draft 2

I have already made some slight changes, adjusting the slogan to red so that is stands out more and adding in a logo and bar code, I have also edited the image by taking the feet out as this creates more room for writing and also they do not necessarily look like they belong to the model therefore it could be quite confusing for the audience.

Draft 3
This stage was very difficult as it took me an extremely long time trying to match the mast head and banner headline without them looking too similar which would spoil the magazine, however I felt I needed to change the front covers appearance slightly to give a more professional vibe.
Draft 4
I believe the mast head has improved greatly when compared to the one previous, it matches the house style better and gives the effect of the "do not cross" tape which is used to conceal private/ important areas, this reflects the artist by emphasising her importance and also implying mystery which complements the text "not your typical girl next door" as this suggests the audience do not know everything about the artist, but will find out within the magazine.

Draft 5
I have changed the position of the black background which fades into white and I felt the top of the page looked considerably less busy that the top and the black did not make much of a difference to the appearance at the bottom of the page.

Draft 6

I chose to style the slogan in the same style as the banner head line, this shows continuity through the front cover and it implies that I have thought about the aspects of my front cover.

Draft 7
By adding informative text to the font cover I have not only given the audience a glimpse of what will be included inside but also I have filled up space which looked to empty before hand.

Draft 8
I added some musical notes into the gap after the mast head "Tuuune" so that if reflected the masthead and also made too attention away from the gap.

Draft 9

I changed the first poster photo and only included one girl as i am going to use this girl for my contents page which implies that she is a solo artist therefore the picture with both of theg girls is inconsistent.

FINAL COVER

This is my finished front cover, I feel that there is nothing else which I can add to it at this moment in time however this is not to say that I will not be making any further chances if needed.
Overall I am extremely happy with the outcome of my front screen as it follows the conventions of a professional magazine.

Front cover ideas

Above are a selection of breif front covers using the best images which I captured at an earlier stage.
I have eliminated 3 of these pictures from becoming my definate front cover image already, the 2nd, 3rd and last image, however I am still deliberating on the other 3 as these all have the potential to be ont he front cover in my opinion.

Images

Below are a range of images which I have taken, I will include the best ones within my magazine pages.

These pictures are very natural, it portrays the model as a typical "girl next door" and emphasises her innocence and bubbly personality, which is ironic due to the genre being 'Pop' music. They could be used for either the front cover or the double page spread.

I purposely took these pictures so that the model was at the right hand side of the screen, this is to show variety in the styles of shots which I have taken and also because I believe one of these images would complement the front screen or double page spread well. Adjustments may be made on the photos to improve its appearance and give it a more magazine-like persona, for example, editing the background out.

Here are a series of images with different poses that the model personally chose to do herself. It shows versatility and creativity, which could reflect the artists work.

The reason I chose to create the two images above was to show a cheeky/ fun side to the artist, it also gives the impression that the artist is not necessarily the one who listens to the music, but the one who performs it for the satisfaction of others and therefore it is ironic that at first glance it looks like she is listening to music however the audience then realise that the headphones are in fact not plugged into anything.

This is a very typical teenage pose when they are listening to music whilst relaxing, the hair represents carelessness due to all of the model/ artists attention being on the music in which she is indulging upon, it gives off a relaxed yet fun vibe.

The "girl next door" vibe is captured within these images, it once again incorporates connotations such as innocence through the models body language. I feel the model is in quite a care-free, relaxed state of mind, I tried to relate this towards the music she is listening too, which is evident as she has headphones on. This furthermore implies that the model/ artist loves pop music just as much as the audience does, making them equals and letting the audience share something in common with their idol.

Yet again I experimented with a different type of shot, this time focusing on mid-shots of the model whilst she is sat down. The top image is more laid back and relaxed compared to the one below which is much more seductive and intense.

The concept behind this photo is that when applied to the front cover of my magazine, the artist will be pointing to the masthead "Tuuune". There is a lot of confidence and charisma in the models face which emphasises her belief in the product.

These images were positioned to not only look like a natural and confident pose but also so that if I chose to use one of these as my front cover, I would be able to manipulate the picture, giving it the illusion that the model/ artist is holding both sides of the page.

I included this photo to show that I have thought about different camera angles etc.

The two pictures above have the components needed to come across as a new girl band, because of the way the figures are dressed and their stance etc.

I took these images to show that I have thought about both genders in the pop music genre and how this affects their poses and body language.
